Course Description
People credited with this skill standard can safely operate a forklift in the workplace. However, achieving this skill standard does not entitle holders to operate a forklift on a public road.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Describe the safe operating features of a forklift.
- Complete Pre-start checks and fault reporting
- Identify forklift operation safety standards, rules, procedures and codes.
- Prepare to start up a forklift.
- Operate a forklift safely, driving forward and backwards, parking and shutting down the machine.
- Use a forklift safely to stack and de-stack a load.
- Manoeuvre a forklift safely around obstacles.
Entry Criteria
Ākonga/learners must be aged 15 years or older on enrolment.
Numeracy and Literacy: To complete the assessments, all students must be able to write, speak, and understand basic English.
