Course Description

This course is designed for people who need to work in the infrastructure industry and demonstrate knowledge of work procedures, examine an entry plan and enter, work and withdraw from a confined space while performing gas testing and interpret and respond to gas test results.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the location and work procedure to be carried out in the infrastructure industry.
  • Examine an entry plan for completeness, and enter, complete work, and withdraw from a confined space in the infrastructure industry.
  • Conduct a non-entry confined space rescue in the infrastructure industry.

Entry Criteria

Numeracy and Literacy: Students must be able to write, speak, and understand basic English to complete the assessments.

Pre-requisite: Unit 18426, Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined space, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

Evidence for at least three observations of confined space entry is required to achieve credit for Outcome 2. At least one entry must be performed on the job under real workplace conditions.
