PERMIT ISSUER AND RECEIVER COMBINED COURSE

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

​

This course will ensure you understand the essential components of the Permit to Work system, especially the legal responsibility issue a permit and to authorise work to be carried out within your workplace Permit to Work System. We will discuss multiple types of permits and what should be in place to issue and receive such permits to ensure a safe working environment exists.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the completion of the course you will be able to:

​

  • Explain the permit types, PI roles and permit requirements for issuing a permit

  • Demonstrate the preparation requirements for issuing a permit including worksite preparation, hazard analysis and supervisory requirements on site.

  • Explain and demonstrate the implementation of control systems:  Monitoring and compliance to work scope, deviations, cancellation and re-issue of work permits.

  • Understand and explain the types of work permits and the roles of those involved in the work permit system.

  • Explain the requirements and understand how to prepare and receive (accept) a permit when applying for a work permit.

  • Understand the legal responsibility as permit holders.

  • Understand the requirements to undertake work under the permit.

  • Describe and carry out the controls and actions to be taken at the end of a work period or upon the completion of work.

  • Explain procedures in terms of change of scope, newly introduced hazards and site emergencies under the permit system.

  • Explain and demonstrate the action to audit and close work permits.

Open

Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.

​Recommended to hold Unit Standard 19522 Undertake Job Safety Analysis and 30265 Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role
