Course Description

Individuals certified in this course possess the skills to administer prompt first aid, perform basic life support, including CPR, address foreign body airway obstructions, and manage life-threatening bleeding. This course is ideal for parents, nannies, care workers, sportspeople, and those who perform outdoor activities like tramping, fishing, and cycling.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Perform a Primary assessment(DRSABCD).
  • Able to demonstrate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – adult, child and infant.
  • Assist with Foreign body airway obstruction (choking) – adult, child and infant.
  • Acquire and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Management of life-threatening bleeding.

Entry Criteria

Numeracy and Literacy: To complete the assessments, all students must be able to write, speak, and understand basic English.
