Course Description
People credited with this unit standard can use a truck loader crane (HIAB), assess the worksite, identify hazard and risk management protocols, prepare the required documentation to lift and place regular loads or refresh on the current unit standard.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Complete pre-start checks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of using a truck loader crane.
- Use of their components, equipment, and attachments.
- Demonstrate understanding of the requirements for lockout and tagout processes for a truck loader crane.
- Sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a truck loader crane.
- Check and set up the truck loader crane to sling the load.
- Carry out daily and weekly operator maintenance of a truck loader crane.
- Secure and prepare the truck loader crane for road transport mode, stow equipment, and complete documentation.
- Complete two different assessor observed lifts.
Entry Criteria
Prerequisite: Unit 30072, Demonstrate and apply knowledge of slinging regular loads safely, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
To meet the requirements of the short course training and assessment guidance, SureSafety must verify that a minimum of 80 hours or 40 lifts using a truck loader crane to lift and place loads in the workplace have been completed prior to or after the course before the unit standards can be awarded.
Numeracy and Literacy: To complete the assessments, all students must be able to write, speak, and understand basic English.
