Course Description

This introductory course is primarily for people employed in work that does not necessarily involve the direct use or handling of hazardous substances. However, they need to be aware of the adverse effects of hazardous substances present on site and the use of an SDS.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Overview of Legislative relating to hazardous substances and use of SDS.
  • Knowledge of hazardous substances in a workplace and their potential adverse effects.
  • Understanding of workplace’s procedures to prevent adverse effects of hazardous substances.
  • Apply workplace procedure for dealing with situations where a substance or container is unmarked or unlabeled.
  • Manage spills in the workplace.

Entry Criteria

Numeracy and Literacy: To complete the assessments, all students must be able to write, speak, and understand basic English.
